Manufacturing Process Engineer – Materials Focus | Western Sydney NSW

Join an established manufacturing operation in Western Sydney where you’ll play a key role in improving production processes and product quality for critical engineered materials. This is a great opportunity for a Manufacturing Process Engineer with a background in materials or chemistry, looking to work on site with tangible outcomes and a supportive team.

About the Role
Reporting to the Plant Manager, you’ll be part of a high-performing manufacturing team focused on delivering safe, cost-effective and high-quality outcomes across the production process. You’ll work with materials and rubber-based components to ensure finished products meet strict technical, safety, and compliance requirements. This is a broad role combining process improvement, quality assurance, engineering support, and technical leadership.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Analyse and improve production methods to reduce waste, increase productivity, and optimise working procedures

  • Investigate product quality issues using test data and lab results to identify root causes and implement corrective actions

  • Conduct and supervise testing of raw materials and final products to ensure compliance with standards

  • Develop fabrication procedures and advise on materials performance to meet cost and quality benchmarks

  • Contribute to project planning and collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance teams

  • Provide input into cost estimates and plant/equipment modifications

  • Support capital works planning and continuous improvement projects

  • Maintain robust engineering documentation and lead change management processes

  • Drive compliance through audits and manage QA/QC document control

  • Help maintain ISO and Australian Standards compliance through systematic quality reviews

  • Manage schedules and reporting for assigned projects or improvement initiatives

What We’re Looking For

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (preferably Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Chemical)

  • Solid understanding of materials, chemical composition, and their application in a production setting

  • Familiarity with manufacturing operations, quality systems, and process improvement tools (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen)

  • Knowledge of industry standards, QA practices, and design codes

  • Hands-on experience working in a plant or industrial environment

  • Exposure to special purpose machinery, mining equipment, or heavy industry (ideal but not essential)

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across technical and non-technical teams

Why Apply?

  • Be part of a reputable, high-performing team

  • Take ownership of improvements in a well-established manufacturing environment

  • Use your chemical/materials knowledge in a practical, process-oriented role

  • Develop your career with exposure to engineering projects, QA systems, and operations
