A leading Australian manufacturer is seeking an experienced Automation & Controls Engineer to lead the design and implementation of factory-wide automation and data systems. This hands-on role will see you connecting PLCs, SCADA, and digital data pipelines to enable best-in-class manufacturing outcomes.

About the Role
You will:

• Design and build SCADA/HMI systems (Ignition, FactoryTalk, Wonderware, etc.)

• Program and integrate PLCs (Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, Eurotherm, or similar)

• Create data pipelines (Python, SQL) to connect machinery to analytics/reporting

• Lead digitisation projects—integrating automation with MES/ERP systems

• Ensure compliance with ISO/AS/regulated manufacturing standards

• Partner with reliability, maintenance, and operations to optimise production

• Deliver automation projects from concept through commissioning

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s in Mechatronics, Electrical, Automation, or similar

• 5+ years’ experience in automation engineering (ideally aerospace, defence, or high-reliability sectors)

• Expert in PLC/SCADA/HMI systems

• Strong Python and SQL skills for industrial data engineering

• Project leadership on automation/digitisation programs

• Bonus: CNC/robotics/composites experience; Lean/Six Sigma; asset monitoring

• Australian work rights; defence clearance (or eligibility) a plus
