Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Sydney, NSW (Hybrid – 3–4 days onsite)
Salary: $90,000 + Super
Experience: 2+ years

About the Role

We are working with a high-growth technology company developing advanced, mission-critical hardware systems used in demanding real-world environments. Due to continued growth, they are looking to bring on a Mechanical Engineer to support the design, prototyping and delivery of complex hardware products.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with electronics, systems and software engineers, taking mechanical designs from early concept through to prototype testing and production handover.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing mechanical solutions for complex hardware systems (e.g. enclosures, racks, mounts, cooling solutions)

• Taking ownership of mechanical design from concept through to prototype and production readiness

• Producing detailed CAD models, assemblies and drawings

• Supporting design reviews, testing activities and deployment planning

• Working closely with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure designs are manufacturable

• Creating and maintaining clear technical documentation

• Collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams in a fast-paced environment

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

• 2+ years’ hands-on experience in mechanical or hardware design

• Strong CAD capability (experience with Inventor, SolidWorks, Fusion or similar)

• Exposure to designing hardware for embedded or electronic systems

• Experience working in startup, scale-up or product-driven engineering teams

• Comfortable being mentored by senior engineers and growing into the role

• Eligible for Australian security clearance

Nice to Have

• Experience with rack or sub-system design

• Exposure to power distribution or electronics packaging

• Experience designing hardware for field-deployed or high-reliability systems
